SSL VPN

What is an SSL VPN?
An SSL VPN enables remote users to operate in much the same way as they could if they were directly connected to the corporate LAN.  They can access data stored in shared directories, move files to and from their remote computer, even access many programs.

Most importantly, an SSL VPN works over any Internet connection using only a Web browser on the remote computer.

No software has to be loaded on the remote machine.  This makes deploying and managing remote access extremely simple and reliable.  The remote users can be using a company-controlled notebook, a computer at a customer’s site, a public computer in an Internet café, even a Windows Mobile or Palm PDA or mobile phone.

The SSL VPN does three things:
  • Authenticates the user, typically via a login/password
  • Secures and encrypts all the traffic
  • Removes all VPN and transferred data from the remote computer after the session is complete
SSL VPNs are the ultimate in portability and ease of use.

Radiant’s SSL VPN Service
Radiant’s SSL VPN service leverages the best SSL VPN technology available today: Juniper’s Secure Access has consistently achieved Gartner’s highest rating of Magic Quadrant© Leader.  This technology is deployed in our broadband data centres and enables us to connect your remote users directly to your corporate VPN.

As part of the service we initially design the SSL VPN with you, identifying the resources and programs you want to make available to your remote users.  We then configure the network and VPN back to your HQ. Your remote users are then immediately able to access these resources and programs.

Options in the SSL VPN service include:
  • Control access based on the machine being used.  For example, allow files to be downloaded to a company-owned notebook, but only viewed if the user is working from an unknown computer
  • Use your own domain, e.g. ssl.xyz.ca
